If you had hand controls in a car does the car have to have handicapped license plates?

I would say ';no'; because they are two different things. The hand controls allow a person with disabilities to drive.

The handicapped license plates identify a person with disabilities vis-a-vis being able legally park in handicapped parking spots. If you don't have one of those license plates, you cannot conveniently park in identified spots.

So the two go hand in hand, but a handicapped person does not have to have a designated license plate. It's their choice. If you had hand controls in a car does the car have to have handicapped license plates?
My friend has hand controls on his truck and yes he does have handicap plates because he needs more room to get out and get his walker out. I would get them just because it would give the person more room to get what they need.
