were you on birth control pills? if so which ones?
if you were not on birth control pills, were you using any other contraception?
i am planning to start trying in January 2009 and wonder if you could advise me as to whether i should take birth control pills for the 6 months running up to next january, as i read that it often improves fertility. is that true?
thanks you.How long did it take you to get pregnant and were you using birth control pills before hand?
It took me 2 years to get pregnant. I had been on the pill for about 15 years. I was 35 when we started trying. I thought it wouldn't take that long, but I was wrong! We finally got pregnant after 2 years of trying. I'm now 39. Now my son is 21 months, and it's been a year of us trying to get pregnant again for our 2nd child. Still no luck. I'm not on any birth control. I don't know how old you are - your age can be a factor in how long it will take for you to get pregnant. Also - I would recommend condoms instead of the pill for contraception. It takes a while for the pill to get out of your system. Below are a couple of links. The first link didn't apply to me since the pill seemed to hinder me getting pregnant. Talk to your OBGYN for better advise. Good Luck!!!How long did it take you to get pregnant and were you using birth control pills before hand?
I got pregnant about 3 weeks after I stopped taking the pill. I was on Yasmin. And I was skipping the sugar pills and only giving myself a period only 3 times a year. I stopped because I started feeling weird on it and wanted to get a period. So, instead of getting that period I got a son! Every woman is different though. Sometimes taking the birth control pill close to when you want to conceive can cause compllications and what they call a ';chemical abortion';. The hormones in your body can effect the pregnancy, but not in all women. I would go see your OB about it and he/she might be able to give you alternatives to the birth control pill if you want it planned. Good luck though!!!
I was on birth control for over a year and came off in febuary.. Took me about a month, maybe less to get pregnant, no other contraception, and all planned!!
But i heard some women in adverage take up to 3 months until they get their first period again. I did'nt wait for my period, we just did it!
And whalah! 14 weeks pregnant!
Was a little difficult to calculate how far along i was with no last period, but my scan did all the work! (:
Good luck in January .. To be on the safe side, stop taking the birth control a couple of months early and use a condom instead. You need to let your body get used to not having the pills in your system .. But for some women it can take more than 3 months .. **BABY DUST**
Hope you get what you want (:
Good luck xox
Sometimes women are more fertile after stopping birth control, and other times women have a really hard time after stopping the same birth control. It's really based on your body.
I was on Nuva Ring and got pregnant the first time I had sex after stopping it. Same happened to 2 friends of mine. I've heard this is fairly common. If you don't want a baby before Jan 09 then it would be worth a shot looking into Nuva Ring, but I wouldn't go on BC just to increase your chances of conceiving quicker.
Good luck!
I stopped the pill March 19th (after being on for about 7 yrs!), and I'm still trying. This will be my 3rd month/cycle TTC. I dunno why, but I feel like this is going to be my month!Everyone is different. You said you wanted to start trying in January, I would stop the pill either in Jan. or as early as November. The thing is, you never know when it will happen. Keep in mind, most couples can take up to a year. That's why I started now, I didn't know when it would happen, and if it was going to take a while, I wanted to have plenty of time.
It was 4 months after I went off the pill (Alesse) that we got pregnant, but I was thinking I had a 28 day cycle when I actually had a 32 day cycle, so I might have gotten pregnant earlier. Some women get pregnant the month they go off, but up to a year of trying is considered normal.
I had taken Yasmin for a year, I stopped taking them the first of January and got pregnant in Feb.
Taking bc pills can either improve your fertility or can make it hard to get pregnant. It can take up to a year after stopping bc to get pregnant. I would talk to you doctor.
I was on ortho tricyclen for a while went off and like a month or two later i was preg. My friend who has fertility problems was told to take birth control pills to regulate her period so it would make it easier to get preg. good luck
Hi,
I was taking Microgynon birth control pills from the age of 13 (for very heavy periods).
I stopped taking them and fell pregnant within 2 months (this baby was lost unfortunately)
My boyfriend and I had been together for 4 years-no protection-I got pregnant just last year
