How many of you out there think that now heavy-handed gun control is the answer to all our problems?

As a moderate, and gun owner, AND a fan of Michael Moore (what a contrast, huh?), I am going to say that gun control is not the way to go. Canada has more guns per capita than the US, and yet, they only had 63 murders in one year from guns, as opposed to our 11,000.

I agree with Michael Moore, get rid of sensationalist media that exploits tragedy for ratings. As US citizens, we spend way too much time watching the news, and thinking up conspiracy theories, when in reality, we should spend more time with the spouse and kids, and walk away from the over exposed journalists who don't know squat. How many of you out there think that now heavy-handed gun control is the answer to all our problems?
It is not. If those students and faculty were able to fight back, instead of being unarmed and helpless, the gunman may not have killed 32 people. If everone there was armed, they would shot him dead long before. How many of you out there think that now heavy-handed gun control is the answer to all our problems?
Not me... gun control is an oxymoron and counter productive.
All Americans should carry arms.
NO!!!!
We have enough gun laws what we don't have is ---

enforcement of gun laws.

That has to start at the local level .

Tough gun laws were touted some even passed but lawyers and plea bargains get criminals off or give them light sentences. Mandatory sentences should be followed not ignored. They were fought to the Supreme Court and upheld.

How many criminals serve the additional 5 years for committing their crime with a gun?

Gun crimes are not glamorous -- when sports stars or actors or ';rappers'; are given probation it is a joke! They are not above the law.

Those ';stars'; have a huge following - what does it teach the average teen or young adult?

There should be no privilege when a crime is committed with a gun - go to jail and stay there your full sentence.
not me i would shoot my self in the foot or some burglar would take it from me and shoot me.. eighter way i would get shot lol
Personally I think we need to LIGHTEN up gun control. How many murders or thieves would break into a house or go towards a person with a gun if they knew the other person had one too? Think about it, would that Korean bastard who killed all of those people at VT have gone into buildings gunning people down if everyone else had guns too? I think not. Liberals: Go to hell, you all go against the very principals this country was founded on, you SORRY bastards.
Not the answer to all of our problems, but we need to continue to work on the gun laws.
Nope, I think heavy-handed criminal control would be far more effective.

Besides approximately 123 people died in car wrecks in the U.S. yesterday (and a similar number today, tomorrow, and every day of the year), gun deaths are not our biggest problem when it comes to the chance of being killed by someone else in the U.S. today. You are three times as likely to die in a car wreck than to be shot (by someone else) in the U.S., if we want to save lives, let's start with the biggest problem first.
if one of those kids had a gun in this class room that nut job would be dead and a lot of innocents would be alive

outlaw guns and only outlaws will have them

the laws on the books are fine, for law abiding citizens, illegal use of a fire arm now that is a different story, law should be way tougher, life imprisonment for the commission of a felony and death for using a gun the murder someone. and i don't mean about killing some one in self defense
Aloha from Down Unda!

Absolutely NOT! Issue EVERYONE heavy handguns %26amp; plenty of ammunition!!

The consentration of security training, installation of security cameras %26amp; implementation of immigration laws can do more to prevent wholesale murder than disallowing guns. Guns don't kill people, only the deranged %26amp; misfit immigrants kill people.

'Conspiracy' advocates might agree that this Korean is merely a small part of a much larger plan, with or without guns. The suspicions that there was much more than a single gunman in Virginia must be shared by others. It's too odd to see diviant 'newscasters' with broken English 'Ackmed' from the middle-east %26amp; shaved heads %26amp; piecings to believe such key rap! And how inept are the 'police'? Fat, slow witted, fully disfunctional %26amp; disgraceful! But THEY have guns!

That campus looks exactly like a safehaven especially selected by 'black ops' of any organization to breed %26amp; even 'import' such evil!

EVERYBODY should have 3 guns from birth! Bullies wouldn't last long, thoughtfulness %26amp; respect would definately prevail! So what if we loose a few in shooting 'accidents'...

If only 20% of these students HAD guns instead of cellphones %26amp; email, the losses MAY have been diminished by 80% or more!! I'd be happy to 'take out' a maniac before loosing so many young lives %26amp; ruination of so many families %26amp; this devestating heartache of the planet!

Packing a piece is a big responsibility but enables power %26amp; satisfaction needed to overcome this kind of senseless evil.

Best wishes ~
