Its a really odd story I agree. The facts should of been, the child was out of control, had mental instability, and the parent asked for help not knowing how to get the child to respond to a request, and not focus on the request being to take a bath. The officer I would think was probably wishing theyd not gotten the call at all, the child should of possibly been institutionalized if the child posed a danger to her family or self. The stories online are written very poorly.


The officer, in pain from the child attacking his privates, had a right to protect himself, physically, hitting her is not acceptable, shooting her with his gun is not appropriate, I guess a 1 second taser was his last option, since he was involved now in the situation and she gave him great physical pain in her attack.


As with anyone, public or public servant, being attacked puts us in a situation that is new, this with a child of 10 whose behaving violently, maybe he should of entered the home and called a pyshch unit, or ambulance to put her in a straight jacket, or maybe mom could let her win and walk away........but raising a special needs child, poses alot of responsibility and responding to very trying situations.


I feel bad for everyone involved, including the officer. Next time, when a child is involved, he will fear assisting those who need assisting possibly, and possibly putting someone at risk of attack.
So, given the circumstances, what would the other options have been:?


Go in mob handed and drag her away?


Call a doctor to force a sedative in her arm?


Leave her alone and wreck her life tomorrow via social services intervention?


No easy way out of it - maybe the Taser was the least bad option?
Oh yeah Americans either believe that this is ok or that the mom should have hit her instead of calling the police. Are you able to resolve ANY child prob without resorting to violence? How about just ignoring that behavior?? If she doesn't want to shower let her. She will change her mind soon. And if she likes to stink, then that's her problem. I thought that the police had to deal with more important stuff.

In my day, it would have been a thick ear or an even thicker backside. However, now that's considered to be child abuse, how else can you teach them that their actions have consequences? Call in the Air Force and nuke the little brat.
