Wow we are going to hand over control of health care to the government?

Besides defense, fire, criminal justice system and police, what does the government do a better jon than the private market?Wow we are going to hand over control of health care to the government?
It's has become a very real possibility. What all comes down to is bigger %26amp; bigger government. It is a opportunity to control more of the economy. The program will also limit the amount of care based on your age. This is the same government that is now saying women shouldn't get mammograms until they are fifty. Does it honestly sound that these people can run a health care program? It's all about having more control over people %26amp; the economy. They have already hired layers to run GM. . Banks %26amp; mortgage companies will be the next target. We are marching towards to socialism. All the liberals are smiling like sheep on the way to the slaughter house.Wow we are going to hand over control of health care to the government?
There is absolutely nothing in the senate bill that caters for any more government provision of healthcare than already exists (ie medicare and medicaid). And the House bill still left the vast majority of Americans covered by the private sector.

Why are you people so obsessed with debating a bill that does not exist?
scientific research (especially pharmaceuticals) is another area. the overwhelming majority of medical research is paid for with tax dollars..... big pharma actually spends next to nothing on research - the american taxpayer foots the bill. that's why it's the single most profitable industry in the world.

building highways and bridges. if it were up to today's conservatives, funding the eisenhower interstate system would never even be considered.

the federal government also controls food production through farm subsidies (most of which ends up in ADM Corp's off-shore bank accounts for some reason). ironic that the states that receive the lion's share of THAT money consistently vote republican, isn't it? why don't republicans have a problem with this?

the scariest thing about modern conservatives is their faulty belief that the free market is the best solution to every problem. open your eyes. FDR's programs WERE working until the GOP managed to win back control of congress in 1936 and started gutting the new deal. a careful analysis of economic indicators of the time proves this beyond any shadow of a doubt.

but i'll tell ya what... this liberal democrat will support your free market ideas if and ONLY if you agree to repeal the taft-hartley act. if you want to keep the government out of business, fine. then keep them out of labor, too. THEN you'll have your ';free'; market. otherwise, the government has their thumb on the scale thus preventing equalibrium from being achieved. as long as the federal government has the power to break a strike in private industry and order employees back to work, it really isn't a ';free'; market. it's a hegemony that favors corporate interests above all other considerations.

until then, your prime assumption is incorrect. as is your assumptiom that control of health care is being turned over to the federal government with this bill.
Lets look at what they do control. They control Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security. These transfer Payment systems are about to fail. Why would we want to expand them? Reform them yes, but not expand them. We are just setting ourselves up for a bigger fail resulting in waste of taxpayer dollars.
Being that police, fire and criminal justice (which I am in favor of privatizing all) are never run within budget, they will join that club of everything else the government touches: Inefficient and under-budgeted with a whole lot of waste and theft.
No, in fact we are going to give more control to the health insurance company. So much for being a marxist. He's whatever the opposite of that is.
Let see...

1.)The government won't overcharge me for care

2.)They won't look for loop holes and try to drop me from coverage as soon as I get seriously sick.
The government does NOTHING well or efficiently.

Do you honestly think that the the military is efficient?
The Gov does a better job of stealing money, lying to people and controlling the mental midgets.
Just so you know- The government has been running Medicare since it was passed into law.
poor America :(
give away money... freedom.... and BS
